An Excellent "photo" printer, however, it lacks in other areas
depending on your budget, but "I" would, having had an epson for a while get a Canon i965, the prints are outta this world.
priced about £250
or the i865 priced at £150
they are rapid too!!!
infact i think i gonna treat myself to a i865 in Jan, after reading a review in PCPro Mag, it won its clas between £80-£250
see if you can get some print samples or see it in action.
to give you an idea, the canoni865 has a smaller footprint,15 pence per 6x4 ink cost against 21p epson.
the original cartridges are cheaper (very slightly smaller though), but it doesnt have build in card reader like the epson.
if this was your main reason for choosing this printer, have a peek at the excellent hp photosmart 7762 with built in 6x4 photo paper tray.
hope this helps a bit.

I too have 'grown up' on Epson Printers, my current one a Stylus 670
The card reader I do like, and I noticed today that it also has a small tray (which is either for 6x4 prints or CDR's as it does CDR printing too)
Ive had a quick look at the Canon Printers (mainly the CP range of Dye Sublimation Photo Printers, as they have a protective film that goes on the print to protect the photos from water and suchlike ) but they are restricted to 6x4's and smaller
The R300 is just about in my budget (at 129 quid from PC World currently on offer till the 31st) I cant pay any more than that, otherwise I would
Cheers

Sonic, sounds like a bargain mate, at that price.
mind you we live in such a throwaway world theses days, that 12 months down the line, something new will prob supercede it once more.
i might go down and take a look, see if they have any sample pics there. (may be tempted myself, as my 870 is on its last legs) - probably the cheap carts i keep bunging in!!!!
good luck

Hehe yeah, there isnt anything wrong with my 670, dont really use it much, and the last one I threw away cos the heads got blocked cos of lack of use, and this one is sort of getting the same way
But as this R300 is on special offer, it might be tempting to buy, as I got myself a new Digicam last week, Canon A60
The R300 has an optional Bluetooth adaptor too which is quite handy
