Ive recently been popping into Asda to use their digital photo printing services, with some fantastic results, cant tell the differance between the digital print and a 'normal' photo print, mucho impressive. At 15p per print it aint bad value too.
Im wondering if I can acheive the same results from a home printer? Obviously the paper will play a part to an extent.
What kind of costs am I looking at? Not looking for pro stuff, will be for the missus so she can muck about printing off her girly sh1te
Any recommendations on printers?
Cheers

POC,
I bought an Epson Stylus 950 about a year and I'm very happy with it. The print results are excellent, providing you use good paper. Ink carts are approx £10 each and they last for ages and theres six of them. Built in paper cutter for photo paper on a roll which is a cheap way of printing 4" x 6". Some friends have since bought one and they too are well pleased. Printer should cost you about £270.
Cheers,
Leigh

I got a HP Photosmart 7260, which retails around £110. It's not the fastest HP printer but for the money I think it's great. I has slots for all kinds of memory cards which allows you to print without connecting it to the PC.

Watch the cost of paper, the decent photo paper can cost around 25p per A4 sheet, so taking cost of ink etc., into account can work out dearer than Asda.

Epson or Canon only. HP are well behind the game.
I would recommend Canon because their drivers are easier to use and IMHO I think the quality is better and color redition more accurate over the Epsons tendency to over saturate slightly.
