Setting up PS2 online - help!!

OK, so I got me a network adaptor for the PS2 to play Tony Hawks and mostly in anticipation of GT4 coming out, but not sure how to set it up.
Plugged the adaptor in, then took the Fujitsu FDX310 modem from my PC. But the modem only has a USB socket and phone line socket, so there is nowhere to plug the network adaptor into the modem.
Anyone have it setup yet and if so which modem? I want a direct modem connection rather than going through the PC.
Also is it fine to use on Pipex ADSL?

You can't use a usb modem on the PS2 it has to be connected to a router or ethernet modem.
Or you can get a crossover cable and connect that to the network adapter and into your nic on the back of your pc and setup a network share.
The only downside to that is that the pc has to be on and connected to play online.

So I need to buy an Ethernet modem then, as the PC is miles away, and I dont want everything switched on for hours.
Any ideas on make price etc?

I use pipex no problems. My router is miles from the ps2 but I bought a 30 metre patch cable and ran it under the carpet as I already had a router and its was only £20, alot cheaper than a new modem.
As for modems this is what you need.

I am running Pipex and have no problems with the PS2 online...
I use the cheaper option and use ICS on the PC using a crossed RJ45 cable.. Sonys site has all the info you need for getting online...

If I want to use my USB (Pipex Alcatel 330) connected modem with my PS2 which already has a NIC installed for linking to my other (kids) PC using a crossover cable, do I need to install another NIC to use with the PS2?
Any clues anyone?
Thanks,
Andy.

No, as far as I am aware you can only have one NIC setup for Internet Connection Sharing..!
Cheapest solution would be to buy a little 4port hub... Second PC/Playstation into the hub, hub then into the ICS machine...
