Nokia PC suite USB problem

I have a Nokia 6100. I have installed the driver for the DKU-5 cable okay. When I try and install the Nokia software, I get a message that the USB port that the cable is connected to can not be found. There is the option of nominating the port manually, only I haven't a clue which port it is. Ideas for the technicaly challenged?
