Using the Haugpage TV thing, and Roxio software I have captured some video onto my computer, which is good, except for a 5 second clip(mpeg) the file is 2mbs in size. I cannot capture the video any other way, is there any easy and cheap way to make the file smaller or even convert it to a different format that is smaller.

Lots of options, but one good one is convert it to Divx with something like Dr. Divx.

Do you use windows XP? If so then download Windows Movie Maker 2 from here.
You can change the quality of the file with it to reduce its size or trim it

Thumbs up

That DrDivx thing looks like it might do the trick, ta

I dont have XP. Whatever settings I try it always seems to want to record at the same size and quality, I could lower the frame rate but the video is a bit jerky on the highest setting anyway.
