Recording radio on to an iBook

IIRC Radio 1's online show is in REAL One format..... Although it streams it.
Never tried it on my Mac (or PC for that matter), as I've always plugged in an external CDR to record the programme.
However, in theory, if you get hold of a 3rd party audio editor (or Emagic's Logic or AN other Hard Disk recording utility), you should be able to set the inputs of the package to "internal".
Just make sure that you turn the outputs off, otherwise you'll, in essence, route the REAL player signal back up it's own a$$!!! This is bad - also known as feedback. Same principle of putting headhponesor guitar right by a speaker.
Bit long winded, but YES you can. Not very easily though. FWIW. it would be as involving on a PC

Of course, I'm assuming that you're listening to Radio 1 through the web
The IBook IIRC has a line in, just like a PC, so you can again, record it (or any other external source) onto the HD.
You will need a 3rd party HD recording package, though, as I'm sure that OSX or OS9.2.2 (whichever you're using) doesn't have this facility built in. Neither has Windows though
Again, hope this helps :~)

Dan,
Got hold of a bit of freeware called Wiretrap from mp3-mac.com. It will record any sound the mac is playing. I wonder how much disk space a two hour radio recording will take up?
Si.

Works out at *roughly* 10 meg per minute of Stereo, uncompressed audio @ 44.1KHz/16Bit (CD quality)
So you'd be looking at 10 x 120(mins) = 1200Meg (or 1.2Gig) of course, in most packages, you can change the recording parameters etc to reduce the capacity required....
