Forgive this if it's a seemingly dumb question, I know next to nothing about games consoles.

I'm going to buy this as an xmas gift, but the recepient has both a ps2 and an xbox.

I know the xbox is technically superior, but is there any reason to buy for one platform over another?

PS2 version supports online play... There is no online option for the Xbox..

 

I've heard that the xbox version runs a bit smoother, and is graphically much better than the ps2 version (as you'd expect really), but otherwise the two versions are pretty much identical.

Note that this game has not been getting very good reviews. I know several people who have played it and said that it's ok for a while, but is gets boring very quickly (not much variety in tracks, and they're all set at night for example).

 

Don't think so. I think the game is the same on all formats, so personally I would go for an XBox version. That's a fairly objective view as well as I have a PS2, Gamecube and XBox. I'm tending to get more games on the XBox now, but there are some console specific games that I will still buy on the others, and things like Tony Hawks is so much easier to play when you have 4 shoulder buttons!

I have NFSU on the PC and it is quite a laugh Got me strangely addicted, even to the blinging up of my car

 

Xbox is muh better than the fuzzy ps2 version.

If you are into cars you will love the game, I am very addicted to it, along with quite a few of my friends! It is a good laugh!

I have the pc version, but I have seen both the ps2 and xbox version...
