Getting my X-Box hooked up with digital sound is something I've not tried out yet, so . . .
I have the Official Advanced Scart lead with the optical output and I have a Dolby Digital processor (Sony), what kind of lead do I need to hook it up ? Is is a special 'Microsoft' one or will any Optical cable do ? It looks to me like a normal optical cable will do, but just wanted to confirm with others that have it setup.
Each end of the optical cable is slightly different, are all optical cables like this or is this an MS special ?
Cheers

I have the same thing mate - advanced scart lead going from Xbox, and an optical lead connecting to Denon amp. I got my optical cable from the advanced scart to the amp from a normal cable supplier, and it was nothing out of the ordinary.

If it's the same as the PS2 connections, it'll be the same cable's that a minidisc uses - toslink. 1 end will be a normal jack plug type thingy, the other will look square-ish, but with 2 of the corners cut at an angle. I think mine was around a tenner from Curry's.

Yup - I got one in richer sounds - TOSLINK to TOSLINK. Its superb in Digital!
However, as my digi amp recieves sound in via RCA(SPDIF) I had to get a convertor box to translate the optical signal to SPDIF. Still works fine though!

DON'T do what I did - hook it all up and think 'this don't sound that great !' THEN remember to switch on the DTS and DD in the settings menu on the xbox
