Ebay question
#1
I've got several items for sale on Ebay at the moment (first time using it).
On 2 of the items there has been a few bids but the amount bid hasn't changed from the starting price, how come? There are no bid retractions etc. either.?

Impossible to bid below the start price.
I often find that the details in My eBay take awhile to update, and the details there are different from the ones displayed on the item itself.

Price hadn't changed because all 6 bids were by the same user (click on the number of bids to see the bid history, but you will not see the amounts of each bid until the auction closes). Ebay uses proxy bidding - details here
so this guy might have entered a bid of £1 million, but if no one else entered a bid, he would win the auction at your starting price of 1p (if no reserve set) or your reserve price if he bid that high.
I think ebay must have changed the bidding mechanism slightly as previously if I entered two consecutive bids I would outbid myself. That does not seem to be the case any more.
