Wanted: Old Athlon or Duron (0.18mu)
#3
Sorry mate, I shouldn't have said Duron - I don't think they'll give me the performance I need.
Building a rig for my girlfriend's dad y'see. He's already got a celeron 700+128MB, and I;ve got an old socket A mainboard - so wanted to stick in a decent processor.

Why do you want 0.18 micron?
Overclockers do new Athlon "Thoroughbred" XP 1700+ (Socket A) for £41. This is the Thoroughbred core but 0.13 micron.

No, I'm afraid all XP's aren't 0.13. The early ones used a different core to the 0.13 and consequently a different voltage which my mainboard can't handle.
