I know Maplins do a cable and adaptor for about £30 that allows you to connect any IDE device to a USB port.

Is there a cheaper/bodged way of doing the same thing?

I hate swapping out HD's so this would be a simpler option.

And yes, in an ideal world I would be able to afford a 120GB HD rather than the 3 40Gb's that I 'acquired' from work!

Wink

Cheapest way is to wait for work to "updgade" their existing hardware, and then you "borrow" one of their drives.

Dead simple, and cheap too.

That way, you can sell your previously "borrowed" drives on eBay, and use the money to buy yourself something nice.

Does that conform to the almost unknown 'pikie IDE' standard?
