I've got a Linksys Wireless-G broadband router.
It's hooked up to my normal switch for the wired pcs to get access, and I must say it's spot on.
However, I also have 2 Linksys Wireless G PMCIA adapters for our laptops. I've just about got it working on mine and it does seem to stay connected, but on my dads and gf's it will not stay connected - even with 90%+ signal. Suddenly the windows networking icon changes to "Wireless Network Connection unavailable". I'm pretty sure on mine it only uses the wireless g stuff as i dont usually notice the windows stuff popping up.
Anyway, it's about as useful as a chocolate teapot for wireless if it's going to disconnect every couple of mins. Any ideas?
The WEP key is correct as when it does connect I can access network resources etc.

I had the same problem, the PCMIA cards overheat quickly in some laptops. Double click the signal strength icon to bring up the properties, go to the Advanced tab and change the "Preamble Type" to long. That seemed to fix it for me, although you can still tell when its too hot as it slightly slows down.

It's funny you should say that, my laptop is 99% fine, but gf's and dad's have the problem - on the 2 problematic ones the PMCIA slots are over by the CPU.
I'll have a look at those settings, cheers!!

If you are close to the access point then you might want to turn down the signal strength a little. You should still get good throughput but you client card should not need to use a lot of power.
I don't know if you can do this on a linksys card but this is what we do with cards working in PDA machines or when you are using other wireless devices.
It's also a good way to stop people piggybacking on your wireless connection.
