Perosnally use Norton 2003 but not that impressed.

I often run an online scan from www.ravantivirus.com

Always liked McAfee - use it at home and at work - very effective. However, if you don't want to pay for it, then as Mr White says, use AVG. OK, you don't get the latest client release, but it is only one version behind and you get free AV updates. I've got this installed on several machines that I've built for people. There is no excuse not to have decent AV software on your PC now.
