If picture is already on a website then
[ img]the url of picture goes here[ /img] (remove all the spaces)
many sites don't allow direct linking to images, so you may get unexpected results, like a red X (which you'll also get if you've got any errors in the url) or a message about hotlinking not being allowed.
If the pics are on your PC, you'll need to upload them to some webspace first. Photobucketis ideal for this. Once you've uploaded them, go to the gallery and each picture has the mark-up code ready to be copied/pasted into your post.
