I have a pre-version 2.0 motherboard and I want to pop in a faster processor and memory (currently have athlon xp1900+ with generic memory)
What's the fastest athlon you guys have got in a version 1.x MB + also what memory are you matching with it. I will probably go for 2 sticks of 256MB
Thanks

Aye - it say's on ASUS website that if I upgrade the BIOS I can also get 400mhz FSB - just wanted to know if anyone else had done this reliably..

Yes with the Uberbios 1005 and a Barton 2500 and 2800. Wasnt always 100 percent reliable at 200 FSB and needed laods of tweaks to get it stable so RMA'd it and got a revision 2 board which still wasnt as relaiable at 200 FSB as I needed so got rid of that and got an Abit NF7 which works perfectly at 200 FSB.

I'm running a rev 1.04 Asus A7N8X with BIOS 1004 and Corsair 2x 512Mb XMS3200-LL memory sticks @ 2-2-2-7 memory timings.
I am running a Barton XP2800+ at 11x200 (3200+) with absolute stability at stock vcore.
I did need do a voltage mod to the board to run the southbridge at 1.725v (previously 1.58v) in order to get it stable, and added a passive heatsink (a cut-up heatsink from an old pentium processor). Others have been able to run as high as 225mhz FSB after doing the voltage mod. Previously memtest86 would throw errors or hang if the FSB was over 193mhz.
The mod is easy if you can solder, and you can find full details at www.nforcershq.com/forums in the asus forum (search for posts by MarjinJohn). The mod installs a 25-turn trimmer that allows you to tweak the voltage precisely and stably. Don't bother with pencil lines on resistors etc if you want it to be a proper job.
Asus says that rev 1.x boards will run with an XP3200+ using Bios 1004 or later. Note that this isn't the same as saying it will work with an processor OVERCLOCKED to 200mhz FSB from 166mhz.
Cheers,
Alex

I've got an XP 2600+ running in a 1.5 rev motherboard, with 2 x 512Mb sticks of ram. I had to upgrade the bios for it to regognise the processor properly (easily done - just download the new version from ASUS website). I think this motherboard supports the latest AMD processors as long as you have the most up to date BIOS.
The way I read the website is that the rev 2 board supports 400 FSB, but the earlier versions couldn't (might just have been the way I read it - it was late!)
