Red face

well looks like the evil hackers also got the hands on that - seems to be spreading all over the place (and it is 100% real).

Oh man, gutted for them!

5 years in the making and this happens.

That'll teach them to use the WindowsXP software firewall as their only network protection

Looks like Valve will have to re-write all the multiplayer code to prevent it being riddled with cheats.

Valve have set up a helpline email account to try to track down who was responsible for the theft/leak: helpvalve@valvesoftware.com

Can't begin to imagine how the guys working there feel - 5 years working on a project and some toe rag steals a large chunk of your product at the 11th hour.

Help Valve out and don't download it. I bet a few here have already judging by the "I know" comments.

I think it's scandalous that people will download this to play. I mean are people really that tight that they won't shell out a few quid for a game?? I feel sorry for the designers to have their work hacked like this.

Judging by the amount of posts on SN about where to get pirated software or films, despite the posters knowing full well it's not acceptable and knowing that they're posting about pirated software and hence knowingly ignoring all previous posts from moderators, I'm not surprised about peoples' tightness

Steven & All, please use the "Report to moderators" function if you find anything that is unequivocally illegal and it'll be gone...

Cheers,
Nick.

honestly u got to wonder why they never had any proper network security though, seems a bit of a joke the security they did have.

Unpatched Outlook exploits and using only microsoft xp firewall come on.

Not nice to see their work stolen though, must be gutted :-(

As for downloading it - no, I'll wait til it hits the shops to get the full experience. I'll have Max Payne 2 to keep me going for a while. Then Commandos 3.

Its probably better we DON'T get into a debate on videogame piracy on here - its a complicated issue and has been done many times before.
