Guys, i would like to build my next machine. I have a little hardware knowledge and am looking for some recommendations with regards to what book would be a good, up to date, guide for carrying out the process of building my own base-unit from scratch.
Thanks in advance.

Don't waste your money on a book. It's not rocket science, it's relatively straightforward, and if you do need help, you can get it on the web.
However, as a starter, have a look here http://www.pcmech.com/byopc/index.htm (found by doing a quick search on google for "how to build your own pc".
Hardest thing is finding which components you want that fit your budget
