Question

I dunno if anyone's gonna be able to help me wiv this, but ...

We have an application that also has an ouput as HTML, meaning it can be viewed remotely as a web page.

We need to be able to initiate a page refresh at the server side when data is changed. Much like, say, when you're viewing a thread on ScoobyNet and somebody posts into that thread, the display could then change automatically at the client side to show the new post, as opposed to pressing F5 or coming out and going back in.

Can this be done, either through HTML or scripting?

Any ideas?

Cheers in advance

try:

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=http://www.cumbrianscoobs.co.uk/index.asp">

where the content value = the time delay in seconds and url - hte target url..I suspect for your needs it will be the same URL as the page so you may want to set content to 5 (seconds), etc...

No way. That's fantastic, I'll give it a go tomoz.

I'll leave those drivers up till I remember to take them off

I reckon you'll find the large one mind solve your problem, it's for the same hardware, but it seems a lot more complete.

Did you do the site yourself? Impressive

My skills lie in software development, though I do a bit of HTML and Java Script.

Do you do it professionaly?

Ah ha, a hobbiest then. That's how I started out. I have no formal qualis, now I write a retail POS application for a living, and love it big style.

I did both our websites, but really do not have the time now.

Are you artistic? Do anything with Flash? We may be able to throw a bit of work your way.

I've just looked in the .zip file, it's so big cos it's got all OS. You could take out wot you need, then ul be ok.

I can get all this at work, my email is in there somewhere, so if you need any help tomoz, it's not a prob.

It's nice to be able to give something back.
