Not much apart there made by different companies.
and not all dvd players support both types.
I have found that DVD -R is the most supported type.
But the best solution is to by a dvd writer that writes -r and +r, like the Sony dw u10a it's about £120 unc vat

GO with a multi format burner.
These types of burners will write DVD+R,DVD+RW and DVD-R,DVD-RW media.
The best two are the Sony DRU510A or DWU-14A and the Pioneer DVR-A06. I have both are they are just as good as each other but I think you can get the Pioneer one chaeper than the Sony
