Name rings a bell, but cant be sure.
Could well be some cheap PR. Was just on Radio 1 a while ago.
Could be PR that back fires, how are we the customers ever going to be able to speak to anyone there? They are all going to be on the phone, talking to each other!!

I reckon he could be right! I think the purpose of what he is trying to do is to cut down on non-essential email. Email is both an enabler of business and a curse. The secret is to find the right balance.
You can't argue with what the bloke has achieved and given the wealth and success both he and his companies have achieved, I'm not sure if he needs cheap PR stunts!
This fact originally appeared in an interview he did for the Telegraph. Perhaps someone else has got hold of it and turned it into something more?

I know what you are staying, people in organisations become too focused in using email. It's a "faceless" form of communication that can be used to good and bad effect.
I dont think that banning ALL is the correct cure though. It's more about re-educating the users on effective communications!

In a more reflective mood, I'd be interested to see how they progress without email. Let's see what they think in a year's time.
Does seem a bit reactionary to me.
There are seldom technical solutions to behavioural problems.

email has lots of advantages over telephone calls and paper based systems:
searchable records
quick
asynchronous
multiple person contact.
sometimes it is better to use the phone tho
however... its whats best for the job.
If employees are affecting the business by overly emailing each other (personal) then that should be tended to by repremands / education
agree with miles
nice quote.
