When i go to the Tools, Internet Options menu of IE, I get a message saying "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."
It is a home PC running WinXP Pro. This has only started happening this evening. The PC was on all day burning a CD, and it is connected to Broadband permanently. It has Zonealarm running on medium security setting (now its high !!).
I havent changed anything, and my user has administrator rights. Logged in as administrator and couldnt see any changes i could make to my account to do this. It sounds like someone has run a nice script to do this. Any ideas where i should look to put it back ?

Not saying you haven't been hacked, but the problem you mention will have nothing to do with a hacker.
If this is the only reason you have for thinking you have been hacked, set your mind at ease.
However, this is not to say your machine hasn't been compromised. Zone Alarm will only protect you to a certain degree (which isn't very high)

Your regular username should not be in the Administrators group. That's just asking for trouble. Only log on with Admin rights when you need to make changes.

Thats fixed it !! Looked in regedit for hkey_current_user/software/policies/microsoft/internet explorer/restrictions and set it back to zero.
