Nothing to do with Scoobynet I'm afraid

Get yourself a copy of 'Adaware and SpyBot

Run both and I bet they will turn up some dodgy spyware or something similar on your PC.

Next question you have to ask yourself is how did it get on there in the first place

Chris L:

I posted above your last post with a link.

Ad-aware is good it’s a must have, you all must have a free copy.
You wont believe what some of these sites are up to on your computer and that’s with a fire wall up.
Cookie tracking and Browser Hijacking that changes your home page you all must have seen that going on.

Run the program and report back on here what its detected and killed for you, it will hit at least 10 to 20 infections of some sort

Yes, because I was getting loads and I mean loads of pop up's, not just **** ones, someone suggested I install adware and I couldn't believe it when I 1st ran it.

My pc is really slow at the moment, so something isn't right, when I get time, I will go through everything and see what else is wrong

Cheers

I don't know - you give all this information away for free I get charged out at $2000 a day for this stuff!

Ajax - I saw you had posted after my reply went up (only about 3 mins between them) - didn't think it was worth editing.

Thumbs up

So this is what happens when you follow topics with the word '****' in them. Glad I did and followed the advise here. I downloaded the two programmes and Adaware found 219 hits Spybot, another 15. I've been plagued with these flippin pop-ups (although not the **** ones for flippin ages. Can't believe how useful this Forum is, I've been on here a few weeks and finding useful info all over the place.

Many Thanks,
I'll be back

LOL FB

If you want some extra protection, download SpywareBlaster. This program sits in the background and stops most spyware crap from even being loaded. It is not a replacement for SpyBot or Adaware, just another good little program. You'll find if you search through the settings in SpyBot that it actually recommends this program. Very effective and well written. Just run the update program every now and again to get the latest signature files.

Eugh, Gator and CometCursor are basically Spyware programs (as is KaZaa). They "read" the webpages that you view then display targetted advertising based on what you look at.

Get AdAware, KaZaa Lite (if you must use P2P) and also download the Mozilla browser so you can use the web without pop-ups.

If you really like/need MSIE and can't change to Mozilla, try AvantBrowser. It takes the IE rendering engine and adds some useful features on top, such as pop-up blocking etc.
