Keep getting messages about my Yahoo account being full , so want to rescue some old high value emails to store and delete from the account.

So, subscribed to Yahoo POP Access, but can't connect via Outlook Express, it says invalid password?

Anyone do this, know what I'm doing wrong, if anything, or whether they haven't enabled it for me.

TIA,

Alex

they turned off free pop support support a year ago... its a service you have to pay for now ...

although there is a way around it

dunno Taff,

are you talking about using Yahoo Mail to collect POP mail from another server, as that is still free..

otherwise:

POP Access and Forwarding
Forward your email or download your Yahoo! messages to your POP3 mail client for only$19.99/year.

^taken from my yahoo email account...

AFAIK, pop access is still available.
Its SMTP that you need to pay for.

I am getting Yahoo mail thru OE6.
Here is an excerpt from the Yahoo help page showing the hostnames to use:

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk (Port 110)
Outgoing (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk (Port 25)
Account Name/Login Name: your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.co.uk")
Email Address: your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.co.uk)

http://help.yahoo.com/help/uk/mail/pop/pop-10.html

Hope this is of some use.

Yahoo.co.uk only has the following premium services

http://eur.help.yahoo.com/help/uk/mail/mdom/

pop and smtp is free

Yahoo.com is a totally different chargable beast

Your used id can create a yahoo.co.uk mail address instead.

Dave.

how would you create a yahoo.co.uk address? I thought the yahoo id, (i.e. the bit before the @), was unique?

That doesn't create a yahoo.co.uk address surely?

I appreciate I can go to yahoo.co.uk, or yahoo.com.au etc and check my mail, but it's still a .com account???
