I'm sure that people are having problems with Freeserve all the time, however I have one that has been happening for a few weeks.
Situation is that the broadband connection spontaneously disconnects. When I try to reconnect, Explorer comes up with a "web page not available offline" page. The "Work Offline" option on the File menu is ticked. If I click on this and then "Refresh", the connection is then back up and running.
This has been happening for a few weeks. It happened a couple of times a day at first, then seemed to go away. As of the last week or so, it's back.
I'm using XP Home, Freeserve ADSL and a BT line. I keep Windows pretty much up to date with patches. I use Adaware and Spybot to keep clean of scumware. Don't really know whether it's Microsoft, Freeserve or BT that is the problem. An occasional dropping of the connection that can be resolved fairly quickly is not exactly a huge problem, but if it's a known problem and there's a quick fix for it, I'd prefer to fix it.
Any ideas?
Doug
