The next Sony thing is the PSX, which is basically a PS2, along with a Hard drive, TIVO type thing, and some other fancy bits, which is supposed to be a "Home entertainment & multimedia system". Includes CD player etc.
Apparently, PS3 has been put back as they can produce the chips yet - they are too technologically advanced. Earliestdate given for PS3 is now 2005

The technology certainly is there: the Linux kit for PS2 comes with a hard drive...

New 'silver' PS2 coming soon.
Only differences are IR port replaces IEEE-1394 port, and some upgrades to the DVD firmware.
