Question

AVG anti-virus free software found a virus at

C:\_RESTORE\TEMP\A0089848.CPY

Trojan horse Downloader.Small.AD

It recommends move to virus vault,but when i click ok it says cannot be removed?
Now what?

(i cant understand how i got it as i never open any emails fron unknown sources)

Try this FreeScan

This file was most likely picked up from an unscrupulous web site that took avantage of an unpatched version of Internet Explorer.

You need to turn off system restore and run the virus scan again, this should allow its removal, when it's deleted turn sytem restore back on.

You are running Windows Millennium Edition. Simply turning off System Restore won't allow you to delete the file.

At minimum, you'll have to disable SR then restart the PC in Safe Mode before you'll be allowed to delete it.

Thanks guys...is there any program you can recommend that will delete it for me?...i dont mind paying.

I downloaded a trojan remover and that seems to work.Where do i find this patch to correct IE?

Xp has many patches for correcting security issues. Look on the MS website, or use the updater built in.
