Unhappy

Can anyone help me out here. I am trying to network a 98 pc and xp pro pc using a crossover cable. Both machine find their network cards however, cannot see each other. I set it up on the xp pro pc first, making a floppy to put into the 98 but still no luck. I have even tried pinging each other but aagain, nothing. What am I missing here?

If you're going straight from n/w card to n/w card (ie no hub) then don't you need a straight through cable?

I had loads of problems linking a 98 PC to an XP Pro PC with a crossover cable. Apparently you must have 98SE to make it work, after a fortnight of messing about I installed XP Pro on the second machine and everything now works fine.

Andy.

It is certainly a lot easier using NT or 2000, that's for sure! MooseRacer, I will post my config settings later. Thanks
