Shouldn't be. Have you tried ftp-ing from a DOS window as well?
Make sure you are ftp-ing to upload.ntlworld.com and login with your NTL login (username and password).
That should be all there is to it......
You can also do it through an internet explorer browser by putting the following line in :
ftp://<your username>:<your password>@upload.ntlworld.com

mmm tried both. If I do it from the cmd line I can connect, type in my username, then the password and it dumps me out.
It's well weird, I've tried my current password and the original password. Looks like I'm gonna have to call nthell

Sounds like it might be worth double checking your username password with them then. I tried the ftp in IE and I got in fine. Remember that it does matter if you use upper or lower case.
If you can logon to NTL world, it should just be the case of using the same username and password that you used to logon

Yep it's an NTL Cable connection. I've never tried the ftp before now, I've had NTL for about 4 years, started with a dial up. I'm using Windows XP at home.

Still no joy?
I would offer to try it if you wanted to email me your username and password, but you don't know me at all so why would you trust me not to abuse it? Not that I would of course!
Another thing to check, have you got a firewall installed and does it allow ftp access to the web? If you want me to give it a quick go, email me your login details and I will try it.
Other than that, I think you will have to give them a bell and confirm your login and password. That should be all you need to do. If that doesn't help, they should be able to watch as you try and login.
Good luck
Steve

I use the same password that I used to use when connecting via modem. Unless you've changed it, this will be the password advised to you during/after registration.

Another thing to bear in mind here which is the problem I had initially, is that if when you were on the modem chances are you may have had an @dtn.ntl.com email address. what happened when I changed to broadband was I ended up with the @ntlworld.com email address BUT the web site remained on the dtn.ntl.com side of things. A quick call to nthell sorted it out eventually.
