Can anyone help me with a Safeboot problem - I have a pc which had safeboot installed on it and now I've fooked up the password and locked the damn thing. Rather than ditch the pc I thought I'd try putting in a new HDD - will this cure the problem?

If this is a software product then you shouldn't need to replace the hard drive. Replace the MBR and Format it and off you go.

Safeboot is encryption software using algorithms such as RC5-1024 and AES-256.

What is the MBR?

The MBR is the Master Boot Record, a portion of your Hard Drive you don't nomally write to and most likely don't care about. If you rewrite the MBR and Format the drive it will in effect be a fresh drive in your machine. You can then reinstall the operating system, retrieve your backed up files and voila.

How do I go about doing that? I have alreadu purchased to HDD but if I can achieve access and still retrieve all my old files then I'll be a very very happy bunny.

Is there somewhere I can get the instructions on how to do this?

Retrieving your old files from an encrypted disk would be an issue. If you take a look at www.safeboot.com they have some recovery options in the support section.

Oh, in that case you'll be needing a new laptop sir. I can dispose of your old one for you if you like, for a small fee of course.
