NTFS or FAT?
Loading Win XP over and existing OS as it had locked the laptop down (safeboot).
Its asking if I want to format the partition using an NTFS or FAT file - any suggestions, FAT ???

FAT if you don't want to be able to set permissions/security on files and directories NTFS if you don't want to be able to read the disk by fitting it to another computer.
NTFS is more secure, efficient and resilient to fragmentation, the downside is the data can be difficult to recover from the disk if you need to install it in another computer because the files carry a security ID that is specific to one particular install of the operating system, particularly if encryption is used!
