well there we go, ordered the LOT off of overclockers today.
£1214.42
had enough of wondering what parts are best with what.

went for corsair 1GB twin DDR memory
and Power colour 128mb graphics.
everything else as above...
along with some rounded ATA and floppy cable, Windows XP pro and some heatsink paste.

Thank god that's over

Andy

edit to add: thank you all for your help

Fair play to those guys that squeeze it all in to a matchbox,
It's not me though, I want to be able to keep it from melting down.
If it does'nt fit into my current case I'll get something like a thermaltake housing link to thermaltake cases

LOL, Si, it's not that I am taking my time choosing one, I HAVEN'T had the time at all to really look into it this weekend. As a lot of you guys know, most of the 9800 pro boards,no matter who they are made by as built very, very closely to the Reference Ati design.

Promise I will let you know what I think your best chance ones will be, but bear what I just said in mind

Cheers,

Nick

MOBO and CPU ordered.
£451.61 from overclockers.
Oh well you only live once. (see other thread, lol )

As for memory, still undecided !
So Steve, What is it about the twin mos stuff that gets your goat.
Is there something special about the corsair boards compared to the equivalent Twin Mos? As I posted above, there is one HELL of a price difference !

any more suggestions anyone, nothing set in stone yet...
(well, except the MOBO and CPU )

edit
i done a benchmark test for the ram in sandra soft and the ram didnt come up as good as the 3200 was supposed to be

Athlon machines, especially dual channel boards like nice tight timings on the ram . If you had bought the TwinMOS PC3200 Winbond stuff a month or 2 ago, I would have said go for it, as they were Decked out with Winbond BH-5 chips, which are used in A LOT of the Corsair XMS3200-C2 chips, which can run 2-2-5 T1 settings all day long in a lot of cases, sometimes with a little more volts over the standard 2.5V.
HOWEVER, most, if not all TwinMOS PC3200 Winbond sticks now are coming with CH-5 ships, which don't like tight timings at all. These are fine for a lot of the new Intel boards to as the Canerwood is not so fussy with RAM timings.

Cheers,

Nick

Dunno about the A7N8X, but with my A7V8X mobo I returned two sticks of Twinmos 512 PC2700 back to cpucity.co.uk (one a replacement for the first). Real bummer as Ram has increased in price since I purchased. Well pleased with my CPU drom CPU city, tho - I'd price them up with ram (not twinmos) & AMD for sure.

I'd say yer proposed system sounds rather nice...

Seen a nice case in Maplins, so I'm rather hoping it won't fit in this midi case I have here, least I can then justify the extravagance.

One in maplins is £43 Creamy white case but tinted blue perspex on most of the front cover along with some lcd temp displays and the on off buttons having a chrome effect looks well nice.
Shame it won't go with anything else in the room though.
