Loaded half Life Generation retail version onto my PC and downloaded the latest patches. I now have half Life 1.1.1.0 and Counter Strike 1.0.0.5. trying to connect to servers via Gamespy and I get the message "dll differs from server". Any ideas where I've gone wrong? Any advice as how/best servers to log onto greatly appreciated. Bit of a novice at this gaming lark.

CS is at version 1.1.1.0.

The full download file is - csv15full.exe, google it.

Better to download the whole file in one hit than applying half a dozen patches imo.

Whooo,
there is 2 ways of playing CS, one way is to install HL and download the full csv15 mod. The other way is to install the CS retail cd and patch to 1.0.0.5.

Retail way sucks imo. So just install the HL cd only and download the csv15full mod file and install that.

Installed the HL CD and then went for the full mod. Thought now I had broadband my game would improve, well it hasn't. Some practice required with some easier competition. What server do scoobynetters use most?
