Building a PVR

Im looking to build a PVR(personal video recorder) using a itx board and a hauppauge tv card. Has anyone done anything similiar under windows. I mlooking for recommendations for the recording software used etc.

Hi
I use a Shuttle celeron 1.7 with a Nvidia 4200ti vivo, it's linked to a Yammy amp via the video in/out, software i use is MGI videowave. It also does as a lan machine (although tbh processor could do with an update to a p4) if any mate are holding sessions

I looked into the Microsoft Media Centre but as someone mentioned it is OEM only just now due to the complexity of the hardware that it runs on, it looks well cool you get a remote control etc.
Thats the kinda thing im looking for an all in one system that I can run through my tv, no monitor will be attached, will be used as a webserver etc also :-)

how about one of these then tut, my setup is an xp2500 with 9700pro and a cheap tv card, used as main machine plus serving xbox and shuttle via a router, both shuttle and xp2500 can record tv although suttle needs cable tuner

If you can receive digital terrestial transmissions, I would strongly advise going for the Nebula DigiTV card instead of the Hauppauge. Comes with a remote and the software (for recording etc.) is just excellent.
