green disposal of monitor
#1
My 19" CRT has finally given up the ghost almost exactly on its 6th birthday and I am replacing with a nice shiny LCD.
How do I get rid of the old CRT in the greenest possible way?
I don't really want it to go into landfill, presumably there is a fair amount of lead and rare earth metals in it. My local kerbside collecting recyclers won't take it. What do I do?

Wont your local scrap yard take it?

My local tip will take it but not much recycling goes on there. If its anything out of the ordinary it goes in the landfill. The guys who work there have a hard enough job smoking their **** and loitering about asking dumb questions to actually do anything useful. I will only take it there as a last resort.
