Question

http://hardwarecentral.dealtime.com/...17~PD-20658469 - This motherboard is listed as having Raid 0,1 support. From what I understand (very little) about this, does it allow me to run 2 hard drives, which mirror each other in case of failure. Is that right or wrong.

What's a Serial ATA 150 interface?

Basically, what do I need to run this M/B with 2 hard drives in case one fails???

Yes, RAID 1 is a pair of hard disk in a mirrored configuration. You waste 50% of your total disk space but the failure of a single drive should not result in any data loss. A copy of each file is placed on each HD.

Serial ATA is a relatively new method of connecting hard disks to your motherboard. In theory it's quicker than the traditional IDE (which can be classed as Parallel ATA) connections. It uses a much smaller cable.

You'll either need a pair of true Serial ATA drives or a pair of normal ATA drives plus two convertors.

You'll sometimes get one thrown in with a new motherboard. Or available here for £15+VAT each.

Oh, for a RAID 1 mirror or RAID 0 stripe it's best to have two HDs of the same make + model. Avoids any capacity difference niggles.
