IDE Channel Help

From: Gloucestershire, home of the lawnmower.
I think I know the answer, but not 100% sure and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet. 
All my hard disks are on SCSI so no worries there. However, I have two IDE optical drives and need them to be pretty damn quick.
So, for fastest thoughput when using both drives at the same time do you:
A) Put drive 1 as Master on IDE channel 1 and drive 2 as Master on IDE channel 2
or
B) Do you put them both on the same channel
I think it is A, but can someone confirm.
