Question

My prehistoric Freecom writer has finally given up after years of faithful service, so I need a new CD writer - I don't particularly want to get a DVD writer, until it's obvious which standard is going to win and the prices have come down/write speeds gone up.

It seems that Plextor are the daddies of CD writers - anyone have any experience of the 52/32/52 Plexwriter Premium?

Personally I'm more a fan of the Lite-On drives, but Plextor as well as Ricoh are definatley some of the best out there.

Cheers Dunk, just looking at a LiteOn drive now, the LTR-52246S. It looks like it's got a higher seek time and doesn't have as many special features, but it's a third of the price of the Plextor Ideally I would have liked one in black too...

What LiteOn writer do you have, out of interest?

Thanks for all the replies, just been reading this review of the Plextor http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=185 and it gets a very good write up. Cheapest I've seen it for is at EBuyer, £92 including next day delivery. I think we have a deal

Bravo, doing well mate, will have to chat sometime.

I had a Plextor writer for a while. It put in about three years good service before it died - good bit of kit. I replaced it with an LG due to price.
