Question

Upgraded a mate's PC from 98 to win2k. Everything went swimmingly except that the modem doesn't drop its connection properly. Its an internal modem and looks like its using standard 56k driver. The upgrade seemed to deal with the modem ok so I didn't bother updating drivers etc. Doing diagnostic on the modem reports "port already open"

Anyone know how to sort this? Does it need a reset string or some such?

Ta muchly

Mark

Isn't W2k suitably different from 98? I think the drivers will be very different. I'd have thought you need W2k drivers for the modem.

You're probably right. I was a bit pushed time-wise and settled for a modem that dialled out ok.
