AMD 2.2 XP, had to get a new board - asrock k7vt2, when i go into bios settings to adjust the cpu setting form auto to manual (which when in auto reads 1500 running at 1350mhz), so i put in manual and up the frequency from 100, set at 120 and reads 1800, tried to up it from there (think i got to 125 - 2000mhz) and the machine wont boot up, hope this makes some sense.

any ideas

I'm asuming processor is an XP2200, clock speed of this chip is 1.8ghz which is fsb of 133 and a mutliplier of 13.5 sounds to me like you've got multiplier at 16 and the mo.

the last board seemed a lot user frienly than this one and straight forward, multplier at 16 dosent make sense to me (on this board anyway), on frequency settings it goes up to 248, on auto its 100. im sure ive had it at 133 which read 2200/1800

the mutliplier and the fsb go hand in hand so a barton like mine which standard fsb is 166 on a standard mutliplier 11 equals 1832mhz, fsb on an xp2200 standard is 133 and standard multiplier is 13.5 which equals 1795mhz, other things come into play as well like memory spec, there are more knowledgable people on here than me though but there not surburnt and can't sleep

having loads of probs, get this one - added a 2nd hd and then the modem wouldn't work !!!, anyway taken all cards out except modem and gfx, keep edging it up, at 124 now but when i try higher sometimes it freezes sometimes not but i cant get it to 133 now. could it be the power supply unit not sure what it puts out but could this be an issue, if its 250 would it still work okay only running gfx, modem 2 cdroms etc, 256 ddr

Question

Probably not, I reckon you'd need a minimum of a 300W one.

Well actually, I think it all depends on the current on the 5V leg. If that is miniscule, it's pants. Think my enermax one is rated at 44A on the 5V, my old one was 23A. It would boot up occasionally but had graphics card issues.

Anyone nearby that could open their PC up and use their power supply? Doesn't need to come out of case, just need to plug the mainboard power into your board.
