Right, W2K SP3, 2 NICS both have IP addresses.
Server is a mail server (Netnow) and file server (SMB and AFP).
Have been asked to set it up as a VPN server too.
So, I put in the second NIC, no probs there. Enable and configure Remote Access Server thingy.
Problem is, when the second NIC is enabled, mail clients cannot connect to the server, I can't get onto any SMB or AFP shares, can't even VNC onto the machine!
Any ideas what the hell I have done wrong here?
Can I setup a VPN server in this way, or should I have a separate server for it?
I'm a total newbie to VPN, so it might be some setting somewhere I've overlooked.

Sounds like you've set-up a 2nd default gateway on the new card....you can only have one card with a default gateway everything else will need to be done as a static (or dynamic route).
I would also not recomend do this if your going to connect the 2nd NIC directly to the Internet. Use a Firewall with VPN capabilities to terminate VPN tunnels not Win2k.

Steve, how do I setup the route?
Yes, I AM that thick! If it was a macintosh I'd be much happier with it all!
As said, both cards have a static IP address.

Without being rude.....if you can't set up routes under Win2K there is no way that you'll be able to get the VPN part of Win2K working. I would advise getting someone else to do it.

Be as rude as you like! I know I'm no expert, which is why I said to the CEO who asked me to setup the VPN that I knew sod all about it. He seemed to think all I would need to do is drop the NIC in and it would just work. Typical pointy haired boss! lol
Thanks for the help chaps,
