My PC takes ages to boot up
#1
From the moment the mainboard screen comes on it stays there for about 40 seconds then continues to load. Motherboard is MSI ultra 845. Quick boot enabled and most high performance defaults enabled, and latest bios is installed.
Runnig XP now, previously ME with no issues, any advice?

Has this only started hapening within the last few weeks?
Check in Add/Remove programs for Microsoft update Q811493. If it is there, remove it and set automatic updates to ask before installing updates so that it does not get reinstalled.

Happened since I installed XP, IIRC, thought it was a mainboard fault at first as a strip of memory went faulty but all new memory now and still the same. Just have to live with it I suppose
Any other idea's?
