I cant get into a floppy disk I just saved an important word document. I get the message "disk needs formatting" but I only used it yesterday to save a document.

Is it possible to access the disk? how?

Probably not - I don't trust anything to floppy these days.

Have you tried a couple of different machines?

Did you save it on a different machine with an earlier OS?

Have had this before, copy a file to floppy in, say, Win98, then try to read it in XP, get the same problem you're experiencing. Put it back in the original machine and works.

Don't know if it will work, but try dropping out to a DOS prompt see if you can read it then. If so, copy the file across to the hard drive in DOS.

Hello

I would suggest trying the disk on several machines as well.

Floppy disks are notoriously pedantic. I'm happy that I don't have to use the things any more.

Steve.
