Question

Well, I downloaded LiveForSpeed (http://www.liveforspeed.net/) the other day at its amazing. Anyone else playing ??? - I did bump into a fellow scoobynetter last night which was nice (what a small world the internet is).

I know Shaun locked a thread in the main forum a few days ago (I think scoobynet is maybe planing its own dedicated server soon) but I think we should get playing.

Somebody pick one of the public servers and we'll hook up for a race sometime.

Bored with the FWD car, want the RWD turbo charged one?

Go to single player, go to track, change it to skidpan, set to one lap. Set level to pro, add loads of AI drivers. Race, win, because the AI drivers don't know where to go, collect 12 points, repeat. Get your 180points, race RWD car

Ish, since all you have to do is complete 180 races to get those points it's rather pointless. Anyhow, drag racing the turbo one is great fun as the back steps out as you drop the clutch at max boost.

Time for one of us to set up a 'Scoobynet' server?

Started playing today, but haven't seen any of you guys around...

(My number plate is CAR105 W).

Unhappy

Patch 0.2d doesn't let you race the AI on the skidpan. It's going to take forever to get 180 credits for the Turbo at the rate I'm going

Although according to that link it's no longer the official patch -- maybe I'll drop back to 0.2c.

What server do you play on? UK Test?

Another LFS'er here

My recent skins. I can be seen in the Kreature car most.

Re the RWD car. I got the turbo car last week, but it is just impossible to control on the bends. As soon as you press the throttle it spins.

What do people use for control? I am on mouse at the mo, may consider a wheel though

Re points, if you race a 3 lapper against 5 cars on pro and win you get 12 points, just do that for a while.

I'm using a Thrustmaster dual FF gamepad, working great, it's nearly the same as a PS2 controller. Can be found in PC world and was only 20 or 25 quid.

Using Analogue steering, digital throttle/brakes and sequential gearbox. And yes, the turbo is very tail happy, but once you get used to it being able to hit 135 down the back straight makes you a lot quicker

OK - Should be up for a game of LFS at about 9:30 this evening....

Try the low ping UK servers and I'll hopefully see you there.

I've just switched back from release D to C and I can no longer load my car setups - looks like I'm back to an oversteering monster that just won't turn in LOL.

I hope Shaunee hurrys up and sorts out a locked Scoobynet server like the 205 club etc. :-) you listening Shaun ???

Ian.

Thumbs up

Just d/l'ed and done the little test track trick to get the rwd cars

Had a few races online. Some people's cars seem a lot faster than mine, although they may be tweaking the setups whereas I can't be bothered with all that

Turbo is a mare at first but I love it now.

Use the mouse to steer and keys for Accel/Brake.

Adjust the rear LSD to about 1.5 and you can control it on the bends, just means you have a slower top speed.

Raced carl a few times yesterday

I can't do it with the mouse at all. I think it needs force feedback as for me the wheel on screen doesn't feel 'connected' to the mouse.

Is it actually harder than GT on the PS? It seems so to me, because I can play GT with either the sticks or the D-pad no problem.

You wouldn't think you could lose a Thrustmaster FF wheel, would you? But I have. I'll have to have a dig round at the weekend to find it.

I've just dropped it right down, hardened the suspension up and changed the final drive to 4.25, generally hit ~130+ (135+ if I get the corner onto the straight right) before braking at the 150m board down the straight.

If I see you in a race I'll send you my setup.

Still needs a bit of work but the back end is a lot more stable now - just got to sort the front suspension as it pushes a little wide on some tighter turns.

Playing now...maybe see you about the place.

The car with NOS all over it is the l33tserver car.
The guy with /bin/sh on the number plate is pretty good.
I'm currently designing a company-liveried car
