Question

Can I just write ripped vob files and the ifo file to a DVD-R as a data disc and it'll play like a normal DVD or do I have to do something fancy ?

Thanks
Dunk (DVD-R Noob)

What program are you going to use to write to dvdr?

I use either EZCD or Nero and can select a Video DVD. This will create the folders needed, Video_TS and Audio_TS I think

But I have had problems before where I needed to use a Util called IFOEdit to reindex....

Or I may be completely wrong

HHxx - Its some Veritas software, name eludes me at the mo. All sorted now though, thanks You're right, you need the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. Didn't need to edit the ifo file a the film is only a short one and fitted on a 4.7Gb disc

you cant just play the vobs frim a video_ts folder, you need to dvd decryter to rip dvd then dvd2one to rip dvd decrypter then what is left gets put in a video_ts foolder and make a audio_ts folder and burn with nero or prassi, need newest nero if you want to work on xbox though

What you want is 'Pinnacle InstantCopy 7' It's not too expensive.

It will compress a dual layer DVD onto a single layer DVD (from the VOB files you've got out of DVD Decrypter). You can then choose to dump a load of the extras & language files which you've ripped to your hard disk to reduce the recompression of the movie when you burn it back to DVD.

Can takes a long time though (up to 6hrs)

Turns out I had an older version of Instantcopy with my DVD.

Verison 6.5 is doing the rounds on either PC Format or PC Pro.

Not sure of the differances between 6.5 and 7.

All people seem to talk about on www.vcdhelp.com is version 7.

Cheers

Mark

Watch your new movies on any DVD player!
Thats a bit misleading! It wouldn't work on my DVD player as it doesn't read CDR reads DVD-R though
