Question persistent NERO burn failures :(

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/98421

Hi.
I have succesfully ripped, shrunk and burned several DVD movies that *i own*

I tried to backup three movies yesterday- and EVERY disc since has failed (DVD-R)
I'm up to 20 coasters now

when I use Nero6.3.1.17 i am having persistent burn failures.
I thought it might be the movies I ripped/shrunk so I re-tried some I have succesfully done already.
THEY ALSO FAIL NOW!!! ????
Can anyone advise please?

Here is a recent log from Nero ROM:
(apologies for the length of the post)

2 August 2004 03:36 This will be part of your problem - DMA should be enabled. Also remove your serial numbers from your post.

2 August 2004 07:57 ok, DMA is now enabled for my DVD drive.
BUT
Still have 100% failures

would DMA off affect the backup I did with DVDShrink/DVD decrypter?

I have had a few customers PCs in this past week or so who have been having problems using Nero to burn DVDs (it seems to work fine with CD-R)

On all occasions, the installation of Nero has managed to corrupt itself in some shape or other.

Personally, i'm not a fan of Nero anyway, Record Now Max is a far superior burning tool.
30 day evaluation available from www.orlogix.com

If that doesn't help, as mentioned, a firmware upgrade is a possible solution. Sounds like you need to take a look inside your enclosure to determine the manufacturer.
A good source for firmwares; www.dvd-recordable.net in the downloads section.

Lastly, you might want to try a different media. If it's not Ritek, it's not right

well- just tried it in RECODE_ and following error stood out in the log:

19:41:12 #25 SCSI -1135 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1442

SCSI Exec, HA 1, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x0BB70000

Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR)

HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK)

TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)

Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)

Sense Code: 0x0C

Sense Qual: 0x00

CDB Data: 0x2A 0x00 0x00 0x03 0xDE 0xC0 0x00 0x00 0x20 0x00 0x00 0x00

Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x03 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x12

0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0C 0x00

Is this SCSI controller damage? Or media is suddenly invalid?
I managed to burn a CDR last night no probs- but DVD's just wont play ball

btw Paul- when i want some more discs- I shall come knocking
