Just a quick question about mixing memory I have 256mb DDR SODIMM in my laptop and I was wondering if I could add a block of 521mbDDR to the 256mbDDR to make 768mb?? Would this work someone at work told me that you cannot mix different sizes of memory (e.g. 256+512) they have to be equal sizes, also that you cannot mix different brands of memory is this true???

Different hardware has different criteria on this.
If you have the memory already try it. If you dont, I would contact the laptop supplier prior to purchase.
The worst offenders for memory are HP,Compaq,IBM and to lesser
extent Dell.
If it is one of these, try their websites & look at model info.
