As for the major decrease in score ( ) I'm not sure why that's happened; in fact Graeme at Kustom said it pipped 16,000 after a little tweaking. Maybe something to do with the cooler that didn't fit in the end.

Do these numbers actually mean anything nowadays ? I only ask as I know some graphics boards *are* optimised to run these tests faster.

Do these numbers equate to real-life speed increases ?

Cheers

IMO, the 2k1 benches are far, far more accurate as they actually benchmark based on the whole CPU/RAM/VGA setup. 2k3 is completely biased to the VGA card used. Different CPU's and RAM make far less difference in this one. Personally, I think 2k3 is complete pap.

Wow Cem, thats a good score.

I've just built a new machine and only get 4924 as a 3D Mark in 2001.

The spec of the machine is as follows:

AMD Athlon XP Barton Cored 2500+ 333Mhz
Asus A7N8X nForce2 Deluxe MOBO
2 x Corsair 512MB DDR Platinum XMS2700 CAS2 DDR333
Gainward GeForce4 PowerPack Ultra/750 XP-8X XP Ti4800SE
Maxtor DiamondMax ATA133 120GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache
Teac 52x24x52x CDRW Black CD-W552E
Teac 16x DVD-ROM Black DV-516E
Creative® Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum Retail

Anyone have any suggestions ??? all memory timings as selected by BIOS - FSB standard speed, std VCORE etc.

You should be getting double that score. You must have Anti-Aliasing enabled or something. Check your settings.

Agree with Daz.
Even my old PC, a 1400 AMD with GeForce 3 64Mb got about 8500 points.

Hehehe.

just looked in the NVidia control panel and anti-aliasing was turned right up to 4XS. Ran the benchmarks with it turned off and got 10137 which is a little better I guess.

Now I just have to play with the DIMMS and see if they can be timed a little better.

If anyone else is running the same MOBO I will be interested to see how you got on with the DDR333 timings.

Ian.

Ian, Oi reckon you should have another look at your system, mine got 10279 at 3D2k1. It's a:
AMD XP2100+
Asus A7N8X NForce2 Deluxe Motherboard
256Mb Samsung 400Mhz RAM
Gainward Ti4200 64Mb
Maxtor 80Gb 7.2K rpm/8mb/U133

Edit: to say,
Although you've got a faster CPU and more RAM, my RAM is a bit quicker and I believe the Ti4200 chipset is ahead of the Ti4800. Neck in, neck in, I say
