I've downloaded report from our ERP software that refuses to remove the leading spaces on the numbers,e.g. " 160.00". Tried re-formatting column to number,text, blancmange etc. but =TRIM() refuses to do anything but leave in the spaces.

Bit embarassing as I alledgedly work in IT albeit not in the bit that should support this!

It's late and my scoobie is calling - any ideas welcomed

The TRIM worksheet function doesn't quite do what it says on the tin. Try using SUBSTITUTE(cell," ",) to replace all spaces with nothing.
