Unhappy

I'm having problems installing a 128Mb Radeon 9100 card on my XP Pro machine.

The card is installed and seated correctly. On startup the card is detected and I loaded the latest Catalyst drivers. All goes fine, except it complaining about not having DirectX 8 installed, but I have DirectX 9 instead so I continue.

Then I reboot as requested and the machine just keeps resetting on the scrolling XP screen, I can only boot in Safe Mode

I did try installing before DirectX 9 was installed with the same effect. I have the latest AGP drivers for my mobo installed too.

The only thing I can see is that when I boot in safe mode and check the display properties, it shows a conflict with the AGP port. Problem is I cannot change any settings for the port or the card

Any ideas appreciated

Which motherboard are you using? Does it have an on board graphics card? You might need to disable that?

ECS K7S5A, no onboard graphics. Just had a GF2MX400 installed before.

Try the Omega Catalyst Drivers from here as they have had Smartgart disabled which controls AGP settings and causes most of the issues with Radeons.
Don't use the latest ones though as they have it enabled. Use the previous ones based on Catalyst 3.1.
Hope this helps!

Thumbs up

Cheers, I'll give it a go

Bought a new mobo now anyway, so hopefully all should be sorted
