Question

My sister is going to France for 18 weeks and will be doing some work when there.
To do her work she needs a laptop. She will need to connect to her work through the internet.
I dont have a clue what sort of connection she needs to the internet there.

Can anyone recommend the correct hardware and internet connection?

Ta

p.s. she doesnt have a laptop at the mo - so we will need to get all that she needs.

nope, they are not providing it.

their part of the deal is that she gets to work there for 16 weeks

is the phone connection the same over there?

she will need the cheapest connection she can get.
i take it that BT accounts etc would not be cheap?

couldnt really say on prices. You need a global internet provider that has local phone numbers.
make sure you know your works network name, create a pptp/vpn network connection (can go into more details if you wish)

Dial-up into the internet
then when online connect to the works private network

The French don’t have phone lines/internet connections because they don’t need to listen to what anyone else has to say as they are always correct.

Tim.

as part of my job I support 60 or so reps with laptops many of them travel abroad from time to time inc France. They connect to the office via a VPN tunnel via the Internet. We use Pipex as a global service provider but they arent free unfortunately. approx £10 per month.
